The new play that TheaterJones.com called a hit as “big as Texas” goes on hiatus now as producers plan the next step for the much-in-demand play.

AMON! The Ultimate Texan crashed the North Texas theater scene like a runaway bull at the stock show.

Birdville ISD Schools Trustee Kelvin Dilks is certainly the most talked-about actor in the region after his stunning turn as Carter, the marketing genius whose media empire (Star-Telegram, WBAP-AM and Channel 5) helped him dominate his beloved Fort Worth for a half century.

After 17 performances in 17 days and tickets hard to come by, producer Rick Blair of Artisan Center Theater says the next stop, he hopes, will be a second run in or near downtown Fort Worth and then possibly venues statewide.

“This is only the beginning,” Blair said.
