How did a man born to nothing in a log cabin become one of the richest and most powerful Texans who ever lived?
How did he use his high school education to lure a trillion dollars’ worth of business to Fort Worth, Tarrant County and West Texas?
How did Amon G. Carter Sr. manage to serve as lord and master of Fort Worth for 50 years?
Why is his name everywhere, yet few people know his stories?
The Alexander Hamilton of Fort Worth
Amon Carter is the nearly forgotten founding father of Fort Worth. His name is everywhere but millions of newcomers don’t know why.
He was a Texas powerhouse — and there will never be another like him.
Dallas Morning News Watchdog columnist Dave Lieber has written a new play that opens May 9 and a companion book called AMON! The Ultimate Texan.
On the unveiling of this project, YOU’RE INVITED to come hear amazing stories about this man and how this grand project got started.
See the photos. Hear the stories. Meet the players. Get advanced, autographed copies of the NEW book before its publication date.
The event is free, and no reservations are needed. Free parking is arranged for guests in Lot F10, two blocks from the library near the corner of West 4th and Southwest streets. (Permit requirement is waived.) The Maverick Garage is closer at 708 S. West St., but there's a fee.
